BIO IN ENGLISH

Pieter Dhoore was born in 1983 in Ghent (Belgium). He got his first piano lessons from Alfonso Medinilla. Afterwards he continued his piano studies with Filip Martens, Katrijn Friant, Sabine Haenebalcke and finally at the Brussels Conservatory with Boyan Vodenitcharov, where he graduated with diplomes “Master in Music” and Pedagogy.

Pieter took masterclasses in Belgium and abroad with renowned pianists, to mention Jan Michiels, Patricia Montero, Pilar Valero, J.J. Pérez Torrecillas, Ueli Wiget and Timur Sergeyenia.

Since 1996, Pieter forms a duo with the recorder player Jan Van Hoecke, with which he mainly performs contemporary work. In 2006 they won the 3rd Prize and the audience award in the 6th National Music Competition Rotary Gent, which earned them concerts in e.g. Handelsbeurs in Ghent and AMUZ in Antwerp. Composers Janpieter Biesemans, Blaise Ubaldini, Kevin Juillerat and Ann Eysermans already dedicated work for the duo. In 2009 they cooperated to a cd recording for Champ d'Action with work of Luc Brewaeys.

In 2007, he was the dedicatee of the piano work Eskapaden by the Belgian music writer Janpieter Biesemans, which he later with proudly created in CC De Muze in Meise. Later followed a official cd-recording with a selection from his œuvre, on which Pieter executes his opus 1 Nocturne.

Since 2008, Pieter forms the Mahler Piano Duo with Laurent Beeckmans, hereby performing transcriptions of Mahler Symphonies and other orchestral works. In this view, Pieter arranged several orchestral works for 1 and 2 pianos four-hands, a.o. Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, R. Strauss' An Alpine Symphony and A Hero's Life.

Recently, Pieter forms a duo with violinist Ann Vancoillie (soloist in the Flemish Opera orhestra), performing in particular high-quality works from Belgian composers.

As a soloist with symphonic orchestra, Pieter succesfully executed Prokofieff’s 3rd piano concerto in 2009. In addition he already gave dozens of solo concerts, in which he often performs works by lesser-known composers.

Pieter regards his role as a teacher as an important part of his career and does this since years with great pleasure. He attempts to transfer his passion to his pupils and wishes to be an inspiration for them.

Currently, Pieter teaches piano at the Art Academies of Lede and Bruges (Belgium).
